Roosters skipper Boyd Cordner bounced up after being monstered by Rabbitoh Jaydn Su’A – Fox Sports

Roosters skipper Boyd Cordner showed his supreme toughness by brushing off one of the biggest hits of the season by Rabbitohs enforcer Jaydn Su’A.

In the 13th minute of the 2019 finals series opening clash between the Roosters and the Rabbitohs, Su’A flew off his line to smash Cordner as he caught the ball.

However rather than lay down in agony as he could have been forgiven for doing, the Roosters captain bounced up instantly much to the amazement of Andrew Voss.

“Oh boy what about that and Cordner bounces up like a rubber ball,” Voss said in commentary.

'He's made of iron'

“Su’A has got the shot and he’s come off the worse for wear.

“What about Boyd Cordner is he made of rubber? Can we confirm that?

“What a moment. What a way to start the finals 13 minutes in and you have a collision which is a carry on from last week, the smash up derby that was played at ANZ stadium.”

Fox League experts Michael Ennis and Steve Roach marvelled at Cordner’s ability to take the hits on a weekly basis and never take a backward step.

“Rubber? He is made of iron,” Ennis said.

“He’s left Jaydn Su’A who is a solid boy. A well built boy and he hits him with everything with his left shoulder. Cordner is just straight up. He is inspirational for this side.

“We focus on so many of the other stars, but the work the skipper does every week he just leads by example.”

“How good is it he just goes about his business week in and week out,” Roach added.

“He gets hit and gets up and goes again. He’s a hard man Boyd Cordner.”

The Roosters proceeded to demolish the Rabbitohs 26-0 in the first 40, but Cordner unfortunately left the field with an injury late in the half.
